Nurse Guides Women Through Midlife Health Challenges

A new docu-series, Menopause Fitness Journey, follows the lives of six women, including a Rhode Island nurse, as they experience menopause and midlife health. The series combines expert perspectives with the women’s experiences involving menopause, nutrition, fitness, and midlife health.

Christina Rondeau, a fitness expert and creator of the program, says, “I wanted women to stop guessing and start learning. The more we understand menopause, nutrition, and our changing bodies, the more power we have to create lasting change.”

The Women’s Journeys

One of the participants, Jennifer Coyne, a nurse at The Miriam Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island, is featured in the series. After a 12-hour shift, Coyne arrives at the gym, visibly frazzled and worried about completing her workout. Rondeau asks her to pause and take a breath, emphasizing that the focus should be on her own well-being.

Coyne’s experience is one of six unscripted stories documented throughout the nine-episode series. Each participant entered the program with different circumstances, frustrations, and questions surrounding weight changes, fatigue, sleep disruption, nutrition, emotional wellness, and physical changes associated with perimenopause and menopause.

The series follows the women through a structured six-week program created by Rondeau. Cameras document not only their workouts and progress but also everyday moments that reveal the difficulties of lifestyle change when personal health has been repeatedly pushed aside.

Education and Expertise

Education is a central part of the program, with participants receiving guidance from functional medicine practitioner Dr. Emilissa Domingo, physician Dr. Christopher Zabbo, psychotherapist Lauren Canuel, and bioidentical hormone specialist Donna Zaken. Their discussions address topics including hormonal changes, nutrition, sleep, stress, emotional health, weight management, movement, and the connection between daily habits and overall well-being.

These conversations are included throughout the docu-series, allowing audiences to hear the same educational information the participants received in person. The series moves between expert discussions and real-life application, testing information within crowded schedules, emotional moments, family meals, workouts, and the unpredictable demands of everyday life.

Rondeau notes, “The women did not need another message telling them to work harder. They needed time to breathe, access to education, and the opportunity to understand what their bodies were experiencing.”

A Growing Conversation

The Menopause Fitness Journey Reality Docu-Series documents the physical, emotional, and practical realities of making personal health a priority during midlife. Through participant stories and professional perspectives, the production contributes to the growing public conversation surrounding menopause education and women’s wellness.

The series is available online, and more information can be found at Menopause Fitness Journey. The program’s creator, Christina Rondeau, is a fitness expert and entrepreneur who has worked with women to help them achieve their health and wellness goals, much like humanitarian leaders who prioritize health education.
